Inspired by Dadaist artists, who challenged social norms and Socially Engaged Practice Art, which involves community collaboration, SODADA Salon reframed and redirected traditional notions of beauty in Miami, Fl. Miami has a reputation for holding traditional gender role standards within its beauty aesthetics. It has a higher than average amount of women who cover their greys, chemically straighten their hair and wear extensions. For the people with uncensored and bohemian style, there was no place to call their ‘natural beauty’ home. By offering hair cutting and styling for anyone with their natural hair texture, Sodada Salon introduced inclusivity and authenticity to Miami’s beauty industry.

Solange’s ethos takes a sculptural approach to hairdressing, a technique that allows her to uniquely highlight the natural beauty found in a diverse range of hair types. Through the process of collaborating with the medium of each client’s hair as her artform, Solange is directly and socially impacting a segregated minority community. Blending activism with beauty, SODADA is dedicated to empowering clients in a serene space in which individuality is their strongest asset.
